Position Overview
The Coding Associate is responsible for accurately coding the signs and symptoms, narrative record, and clinical trauma data, as appropriate, to ensure proper payment from all payor types and to maintain complete and accurate medical records.
The successful candidate will demonstrate and maintain a positive style and attitude in accomplishing the overall mission of Alexander Billing & Consulting, Inc: To provide superior auditing, billing and educational services to medical transportation providers in an efficient, professional, and ethical manner.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Accurately code signs and symptoms, narrative record, and clinical trauma data as appropriate.
- Perform Manual or System count of run forms coded per day/per month.
- Enter and review all demographics and charge information from run forms.
- Review all run sheets during data entry to ensure all information required to register the patient or call information is complete. If the run sheet is not complete, the supervisor must be notified so that the provider may be contacted to complete information.
- Perform a Quality Assurance check before sending the run to the Billing Department.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to help the company meets its goals.
Job Qualifications:
- Ability to perform tasks independently
- 1+ years Medical A/R Monitoring/ Billing Experience (Required)
- Ability to used Windows based software program, and fax/imaging/copy machine (Required)
- Medical Terminology (Required)
- ICD-9 Coding Knowledge (Required)
- Exposure to EMS industry (Preferred)
- Higher Education Degree (Preferred)
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
